Minister was born on 19th June 1970. At his early teenage he had to surpass the grief of loosing his grandmother Indira Gandhi. She was assassinated by her security guards. At the age of 20- 21 he witnesses another gruesome murder. His father, Rajiv Gandhi, was assassinated by Sri Lankan Tamil Eelam militants from the LTTE.


Rahul Gandhi attended St. Columba's School, New Delhi before entering the The Doon School, his father's alma mater from 1981-83. He was later home- schooled for security reasons. Later, he was admitted in St.Stephen's College, Delhi, for a year for history honours, not on the basis of academic merits, but due to his abilities as a competitive pistol shooter. He was good at rifle shooting, trap shooting being his specialty. He left the school in 1990, after one year of education.

Rahul Gandhi, then flew to Rollins College in Florida to complete his B. A. He claims that he has received an MPhil in Development Economics after attending Trinity College, Cambridge. Before returning to India in 2002, he worked in London with the strategy consultancy firm Monitor Group.

The fifth-generation heir of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty had to undergo the most fearsome and heartless life stories right from his childhood. With the odd hours of grief, anxiety, fear and a will to achieve something, he came back to the traditional profession of his ancestors. He chose the path that could even pass through the threats of his own life. After returning to India his first step was to help his mother in the campaigning for elections, which of course bagged him a lot of popularity among the commoners.

His love for speed

Rahul Gandhi loves anything that relates to speed. One of his greatest fantasy is go-karting. He drives about 25 km out of town, straddles a Yamaha R1 and roars off with a clutch of friends on a specially created and carefully camouflaged racing track. He thrives to make the greatest moves with the fastest machines like his father. His choice of machines, is eclectic and ranges from power bikes like Kawasaki Ninjas and Yamaha R1s to dirt bikes and even karts.

Political Career

During the parliamentary elections in 2004, he won the Lok Sabha elections from his father's constituency of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh with a margin of 300,500 votes. His sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra helped him in campaigning.

Rahul Gandhi, at present concentrates mainly on constituency issues and the politics of Uttar Pradesh. He is also the member of, Committee on Home Affairs. On September 24, 2007, he was made Congress general secretary and was inducted into the Congress Working Committee. He is in charge of the Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India (NSUI)

His love story

Rahul Gandhi has been dating his long time girlfriend Veronique, since his college days in England. She is a Spanish, and is working as an architect. Before he disclosed his love relationship, the paparazzi made a hue about his love affair and stated that he was dating a girl called Juanita who was apparently a Columbian or Venezuelan and by profession she was a waitress.
